Understanding AWS S3 Bucket Access Key ID and Secret Access Key

An AWS S3 bucket access key ID and secret access key are like the keys to a safe deposit box - they're what give you access to your stored data.

Your access key ID is a unique identifier that AWS assigns to you when you create an S3 bucket.

Think of it like a username, but for your S3 bucket.

Your secret access key, on the other hand, is like a password that's paired with your access key ID. It's what proves you're the actual owner of the S3 bucket and should be kept confidential.

The secret access key should never be shared with anyone, as it gives them full access to your S3 bucket.

S3 Access Keys are used to authenticate and authorize access to your Amazon S3 bucket.

The default service host provider name is s3.[region].amazonaws.com, for example s3.us-west-1.amazonaws.com.

To access your S3 bucket, you need to use your Access Key ID and Secret Access Key.

You can generate your Access Key ID and Secret Access Key by going to your account and clicking on My Security Credentials.

The Access Keys section is where you'll find your Access Key ID and Secret Access Key.
