You can hide a folder in Google Drive and still share links to its contents. This can be useful for keeping sensitive information private.

To hide a folder, you must first make it inaccessible to others by changing its permissions. This can be done by going to the folder's settings and selecting "Change permissions."

By making the folder inaccessible to others, you can share links to its contents without others being able to see the folder itself. This is because the link will only allow access to the contents of the folder, not the folder itself.

Creating a Hidden Folder

To make a hidden folder on Google Drive, you'll need to remove access to it for specific users. On mobile, this can be done by tapping the three dots ⋮, then selecting Manage people and links.

Tap the users you want to hide the folder from to remove their access. On a computer, you'll find the folder you want to be private and click the profile icons.

Click the drop-down menu next to the person you want to remove to revoke their access to the folder. This will ensure that only authorized users can view the folder.

Mobile App

To hide a folder on Google Drive using the mobile app, you'll need to access the shared folder settings. The app icon looks like a red, green, blue, and yellow triangle.

You can find the Google Drive app on one of your Home screens, in the app drawer, or by searching. Tap the app to open it.

Once you've opened Google Drive, locate the shared folder you want to make private. You can tell if a folder is shared if it has multiple profile icons in the lower right corner of the folder's thumbnail.

Tap the three dots next to the shared folder, then select Manage people and links. This will allow you to change the sharing settings.

If you don't own the folder, you'll need to have Editor-level permissions to make changes. You can identify the users you want to hide the folder from, and tap their name to remove them.

To remove a user, tap the 'Remove' button next to an x icon. This will instantly remove that person's access to the folder.
