Sharing files with non-Dropbox members is a common need, and it's easy to do with a public link. To make a Dropbox link public, you need to change the link settings to allow anyone to access the file.

Dropbox allows you to share links to files or folders, and these links can be either private or public. A public link is accessible to anyone with the link, without the need for a Dropbox account.

To share a public link with non-members, you can send the link to them via email, messaging apps, or any other communication method. This way, they can access the file without having to sign up for a Dropbox account.

Share with Non-Members

You can share Dropbox links with non-members, and it's actually quite easy. You can do this by sharing a link to your documents and/or library folder, and anyone with the link can view and download its content.

To share a Dropbox link, you can use the Dropbox website or app. On the website, you can click "All Files" on the left column, find the file you want to share, and then click the "Copy link" button that appears when you move your mouse over it.

If you want to share multiple files or folders, you can click "Transfer" in the left pane of the window with the files selected, then click "Create Transfer" > "Copy link".

Alternatively, you can use a third-party tool like MultCloud to share Dropbox links with non-members. MultCloud allows you to share files and folders from cloud drives, and it supports over 30 major cloud storage services.

To share a Dropbox folder using MultCloud, you'll need to sign up and log in to MultCloud for free, add your Dropbox account to MultCloud, and then select the folder you want to share. You can choose from three different sharing options: public share, private share, and source share.

Here are the three sharing options available in MultCloud:

  • Public Share: Anyone with the link can view the file.
  • Private Share: MultCloud and your own generated password are required to view files in shared links.
  • Source Share: A sharable link is created from the source cloud drive.

Once you've selected the sharing method, you can click "Create Share" to generate a share link. You can then copy the link and choose how to send it to the non-member.

Creating a public link in Dropbox is a straightforward process. You can share a Dropbox file or folder with anyone, even if they don't have a Dropbox account, by creating a shared link.

To create a shared link, hover over the file and a Share button will appear. Select Link Settings to customize the link settings. This will allow you to choose who can view and download the file or folder.

You can share a Dropbox link via email or directly with others. Once you click on the Share button, you will see a dialog box appear with options to share the file via email or share a link.

If you're using the Dropbox desktop app, you can also create a shared link by clicking on the Dropbox icon, going to All Files, hovering over the desired file or folder, and clicking on the Share button.

However, be aware that Dropbox will not allow you to send a direct link to a regular folder of files in your Public folder. This is a limitation of the Public folder, and you'll need to consider alternative options for sharing files in this folder.

To create a shared link in the Dropbox browser, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in and go to All Files
  2. Hover on the file or folder name, to see the Share button appear.
  3. Once you click on the Share button you will see a dialog box appear. From here, you can choose to share the file via email or share a link. Click on the ‘Create link’ button.

To make a Dropbox link public, you can set link options to control who can access the file.

You can choose to allow anyone with the link to view the file, or you can set an expiration date for the link.

Dropbox allows you to set a password for the link, which can be useful if you want to share the file with a specific group of people.

Sharing Single Files

You can share a single file with anyone by using Dropbox's public link feature. To do this, right- or Control-click on the file in your Dropbox Public folder.

Selecting Dropbox from the drop-down menu will give you a few options, but you want to choose "Copy Public Link". This will create a link that you can send to a recipient for download purposes.

This method is easy to use and doesn't require you to log in to your Dropbox account.
