Paid Add-ons: eSign & Encryption

Tresorit offers two paid add-ons to its plans, with eSign and email encryption for Outlook. These add-ons can be a game-changer for companies that frequently use non-disclosure agreements, contracts, or sales agreements.

eSign is a paid add-on for any account, individual or business, and it's a fast and easy-to-use feature that lets you send a PDF to anyone for a secure digital signature. You can add the necessary email address(es) with the option to add yourself as a signer.

The file must be a PDF with an area for signatures, or the process could fail. Tresorit automatically encrypts the file when created, so there’s no option to add a password for added protection.

You can set an expiration date ranging from one day to 999 days. Once created, you’ll get a link to send directly to needed signatories.

The prices for eSign vary depending on your plan choice (individual or business). For individual plans, eSign costs $6 per month, billed annually, or $7.50 monthly.

Adding email encryption to the individual Professional plan increases the monthly price to $33.49 billed annually or $41.49 billed monthly.

For business plans, Tresorit eSign costs an additional $54 per user per month billed annually or $65 billed monthly.

Security

Tresorit's main goal was to create a secure product, and it succeeded. Data security and account protection are strong features of Tresorit.

Tresorit uses true end-to-end encryption, which encrypts your files before uploading or downloading them. This process is a game-changer for protecting your sensitive data.

Tresorit encrypts file metadata using randomly generated unique encryption keys connected to your user profile. These encryption keys are never accessible to Tresorit, ensuring your data remains secure.

Tresorit protects your data at rest with AES 256-bit encryption, which is a highly secure encryption standard. It also applies this level of encryption for folder sharing, sending shared links, and email attachments.

Tresorit uses the TLS 1.2 channel to encrypt communications between clients and servers. This adds an extra layer of security to your online interactions with Tresorit.

Here are some key security features of Tresorit:

  • Two-step verification
  • End-user encryption
  • User and role management
  • File organization
  • Device management
  • Password-protected files

Tresorit's security features are so robust that it's even deployed a zero-knowledge system for storing, accessing, collaborating, and managing assets at both organizational and individual levels. This means Tresorit can't access your data, not even if you forget your password.

The Personal plan allows you to keep the 10 latest versions of a given file, giving you flexibility and peace of mind.

File versioning is especially important for businesses, with the Business Standard plan offering 50 versions and the Business Plus plan offering 100 versions.

These file types offer a few options for how they're displayed, but Google Docs do not preview.

Pictures can be previewed, although you can't edit them.

Tresorit successfully displays slideshows like PowerPoint files.

Any file you try to preview that isn't supported automatically gets downloaded to your device.

Videos are not available for preview in Tresorit.

Deleted Files

Deleted files can be a bit of a hassle to find, but there's a small checkbox that says "show deleted" that reveals all the files you've deleted.

The interface doesn't have a dedicated location for deleted files, which can make it harder to locate them.

If you don't choose permanent deletion, the file will remain on your account, and checking the "show deleted" box will show you all the deleted files.

Deleting files happens in two ways: choosing permanent deletion removes the file from your account forever, or you can leave it on your account and just hide it by checking the "show deleted" box.

The desktop app allows you to remove all deleted files from your account, which can free up some space.

To do this, go to the "account" tab and click on the "remove" option, which will show you how much space deleted files are taking up on your account.
